PRESS RELEASE
A meeting of Morton & Hanthorpe Parish Council was held in the Church Hall, Morton on Tuesday 17th January .
The Public Forum provided most of the evening’s debate. Chairman David Creasey welcomed the ten public visitors and briefed the meeting about suggestions put forward for Jubilee activities. All village children will be presented with a commemorative mug, paid for by Morton Town Lands Charity. It is hoped that different parts of the parish will organise their own ‘street’ parties and similar events. It is hoped to stage competitions for Decorated House & Garden and Children’s Fancy Dress. The Church intends to hold a special Jubilee Sunday service followed by refreshments in the Church Hall. Morton School Headmaster Mr Trafford said that the school was planning to stage an event on the Friday before half term, which would also include a Jubilee display. A publicity leaflet will be circulated in the parish.
PCSO Mclean warned of continuing metal thefts and asked that everyone remains vigilant.
The Chairman thanked the visitors for their attendance and said that they were welcome to stay and observe, but not take part in, the rest of the Council Meeting.
The clerk had again tried to contact the tenant of the A15 field, presently unused, to ascertain her future intentions about the tenancy, but with no response.
The Council has received the £250 ‘Councillor Big Society Fund’ award thanks to County Councillor Woolley.
South Kesteven District Council approved planning applications from Mr & Mrs Thorogood to add two side extensions to 2 The Paddock and R Dixon to add a side porch to 30 Waggoners Way. Councillor Woolley confirmed that the County had the same intention. It has been decided that the Register Office will remain in Bourne, though at a different venue, yet to be decided upon. Dog fouling has again been reported in Morton High Street and Jubilee Close. The next meeting of the Council will be held on Tuesday 28th February 2012 at the Church Hall, Morton, preceded by a public forum, commencing at 7.15 pm.
