"The Morton & Hanthorpe Village show that took place on Saturday 13th September was again a resounding success with some 250 class entries plus a very healthy entry of paintings from the children of Morton School.
There was much keen competition, but as always in a totally friendly atmosphere.
The classes ranged from floral to art, handicraft, cookery and preserves, fruit and vegetables and photography.
As usual we were indebted to our judges who give their time freely and without whose services many village shows would not exist.
In the face of many village shows declining, Morton & Hanthorpe villagers seem to rise to the occasion every year.
This year there were a good number of entries from people who had never entered a village show before and they enriched the event with their enthusiasm and to their great surprise some won at the first attempt.
The great thing about village shows is the great sense of community it fosters and in the case of this show it demonstrates how many talented people there are in our community.
Well done everyone and we hope to see even more entries next year."
